TARGETED APPLICATION INVENTORY PROJECT
Because Knowledge is Power:
On May 10th, 2021, Mount Sinai Information Technology Services will be engaging all departments to launch the first comprehensive application inventory evaluation across the entire Icahn School of Medicine and MSSM.EDU network. By capturing this data, we can establish a database of applications and vendor services. Creating a process to ensure our inventory is continuously reviewed, updated and integrated into our existing MSHS clinical systems inventory will further support Cybersecurity and Disaster Recovery efforts. Together, we will build a safer infrastructure.
We want to thank everyone who has supported the application data collection to date. Because of collaborations among multiple departments, we have collected nearly 4,000 applications. If you have questions, please read our frequently asked questions linked below. Again, we thank you for your collaboration.
What We Want to Understand Better:
Any application or service that makes use of MSHS / ISMMS network infrastructure to interact with on-premises or external services
Both purchased and homegrown applications
Devices and hardware with built in applications that utilize network resources

Process: A 60-Day Sprint
Collection of existing inventory data and the design of a targeted survey
Launch of a comprehensive inventory survey within the ISMMS community
Webinar & office hours to support the community with the survey
Developing a final reporting and summary of findings, associated recommendations, and remediation plan
Questions & Support
From May 10th to June, 2021, our survey will be open to principle recipients. We've also partnered with Huron Consulting, who has a long history with working with academia and health care institutions.
